THE people of Chepstow came to a standstill this morning to pay their respects in a ceremony to mark Armistice Day.

The service, held at the Chepstow War Memorial, was led by the Chepstow Royal British Legion was marked by a moments silence started and finished by cannon fire.

The year 5 and 6 school councillors from St Mary’s RC Primary School also laid a wreath of poppies on the memorial.
