MADAM, As party leader of the British Empire Party, I was really shocked when I read about Monmouth Museum. Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) may have to sell it off or change the location of the museum. They cannot sell it off, it don't belong to MCC. I also read about MCC considering what to do with the Shire Hall. They can't sell that off because it doesn't belong to the MCC. Neither does the Rolls Hall or Chippenham. I have researched all these properties before. Chippy was given to the people of Monmouth by Rolls of the Rolls Royce fame for the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. I have a copy of the original Monmouthshire Beacon (1892) stating that Rolls bought Chippy off the Marquis of Cheltenham, Vicar of Hereford, Capt Neptune Sones and four others. Also, the Shire Hall has an Act of Parliament on the building (King George IV 1829). This building also belongs to the people of Monmouth and it also states in the Charter that the town council has users rights forever. Our party will take over these buildings for the people of Monmouth and then we, as a party, would move the museum and the library back to the Shire Hall where it will remain forever and, by law, the town council would have their council chambers back and mayor's parlour. Realise one thing: I have the charters and Acts of Parliament for these buildings. Anyone who wants any information on these buildings let me know. Our party will be having a meeting shortly to discuss the situation. Everyone will be welcome and perhaps you, the people, will decide. Gary Whitcombe (Leader of the British Empire Party)
