A TEAM from Monmouthshire Hearing Centre has raised thousands of pounds after completing a nightime event in London.

Helen Hollywell, and Jane Bazen from Monmouthshire Hearing Centre Helen’s sister Jan Preece completed the Women V Cancer Ride the Night, the largest women-only cycling event in the UK, on Saturday 27th May.

Starting from Windsor Racecourse the trio rode 100 kilometres into London and back to the racecourse dressed in pink along with thousands of other riders.

So far they have been able to raise £2,500 for their efforts, all of which will be going to the three charities Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Trust.

Jane Bazen said the event couldn’t have gone better with their six months of training paying off.

She said: “It went really well, It was really positive there were no punctures and it wasn’t raining.

“Lots of people cheering us all along the routes coming out of pubs to cheer.”

Each year the team at Monmouthshire Hearing Centre complete a challenge for charity and this latest challenge was for an important cause.

“Annually Hellen who owns the hearing centre chooses a charity to support. We chose cancer charities because those are close to our hearts and lots of people are affected by them,” she said.

The group are still taking donations which can be made at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Themuppets2017
