CROWDS of people flocked to a Monmouthshire Christmas fayre this week, raising more than £5,000 for St David’s Hospice Care.

Some 1,500 people converged on Chepstow’s St Pierre Marriott Hotel and Country Club for the sixth year, raising £5,110.50.

The popular annual event had on display various Christmassy curios, stalls and a number of musical performances.

Musical performances included the Caldicot Musical Theatre Society Choir, the Air Cadets Band, The Chepstow Choral Society, and the Portskewett Brownies Choir.

The local Air Training Corps (ATC) cadets also helped out as parking marshals with 28 cadets and three squadron leaders in attendance.

Gemma Carter, event organiser at St David’s Hospice Care, said: “The event was very well attended and enjoyed by all.“We had a great variety of stalls and entertainment for all the family including a visit from Santa which helped the event be extra Christmassy.

“We have had great feedback from the stall holders who were all very happy with the Christmas Fayre. It’s great to know that all the hard work involved in organising such a big event paid off”.

Liz Owen, of St Pierre Marriott Hotel and Country Club, said: “The Christmas Fayre, which gets better and better each and every year, is a fabulous event which we’re happy to support.”
