LAST weekend saw the start of Castell Roc festival held inside the stunning grounds of Chepstow Castle.
Organisers promised it would be an event to remember and they definitely kept to their word.
Starting off last Thursday (20th August), the BIG ’C’ CHARITY event hosted by James Redmond (Abs- from casualty, pictured below) was a a nice relaxed start to the festival and raised £522 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The second night saw the ‘Monsters of Roc’ unleashed inside the medieval monument, with Hells Bells, The ZZ Tops and Letz Zep putting on stellar performances to a crowd of more than 900.
Tribute bands they may be, but with showmanship, slick routines and stunning technical skills, the audience were left feeling they had seen the real deal.
This clash of the titans was a glimpse of what this festival had in store, and it is surely going to be a festival to remember.
The next evening saw Bruce Foxton’s From the Jam, and Bad Manners getting all the audience dancing and singing along.
Finishing off the first weekend of this festival was an amazing show from the West End, ’The Simon and Garfunkel Story’.
This show certainly was all it was billed up to be and left the audience on their feet with a standing ovation.
With the second weekend of this very special event starting today (26th August) with Goldie Lookin Chain (over 14s only) followed by Bellowhead on Thursday, A Night of Queen- by The Bohemians on Friday, A Night of ELO on Saturday, and a very special evening with Blue on Sunday (and yes all four members will be there). The festival comes to a spectacular finale on bank holiday Monday with the Levellers.
Gates open each evening at 6.30pm.
