A STUDENT fashion designer from Caldicot has showcased her work at London's Graduate Fashion Week (GFW) organised for aspiring young designers.
Lowri Edwards saw her collection on the catwalk at the event which was attended by stellar names in the fashion industry including designer Victoria Beckham.
The 22-year-old was among 15 students at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU)'s fashion design course to be chosen to take part.
It is an incredible opportunity for students who are given an unrivalled platform from which to showcase their creativity and move into the fashion industry.
Lowri, a former student at Plymouth College of Art and Design, has created a collection called the Comfort of Nostalgia, using bedding as clothing.
More than 30,000 guests attended GFW from Saturday 30th May to Tuesday 2nd June including designers Victoria Beckham, Gareth Pugh and Mary Katrantzou, fashion director Hilary Alexander OBE and fashion photographer Nick Knight OBE.
DMU is one of 40 universities to take part and its fashion catwalk shows are always among the most highly anticipated for the creativity, flair and technical ability demonstrated by students.
Judges included fashion design course leader Della Swain, Buddy Penfold, senior lecturer in fashion design, as well as designers Alex Mattson and Scott Ramsay Kyle, who quizzed each student about their work, research and gave their opinions on the designs and ideas behind each piece.
Della said: "The students have all been working very hard to finalise their collections for Graduate Fashion Week.
"They have all done extremely well to be chosen for such a prestigious national event which can be a springboard for talented young designers into the extremely competitive fashion industry."
