CALDICOT Co-operative is holding a coffee morning at their shop next Tuesday (10th June) to raise money for Imogen Ashwell-Lewis. The supermarket has been actively involved in fundraising for the tot over the course of her campaign set up earlier this year. Manager at Caldicot Co-operative, Meiron Ellis, said: "We've raised around £600 for Imogen so far. "Colleagues have taken part in the zipwire, raffles and now cake sales. "We are trying to help Imogen as much as we possibly can." Two-and-a-half year old Imogen from Portskewett was born 11 weeks early and, as a result, suffers from spastic diplegia, a form of cerebral palsy. Though Imogen's cognitive function and speech is unaffected, spasticity in her legs causes a delay in motor function, causing pain and additional complications as she grows. Imogen undergoes daily physiotherapy with the aim of stretching her muscles and improving her condition. Imogen is in need of Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) treatment which will enable her to walk unaided. The surgery involves entering the spinal cord via a vertebrae and cutting the portion that carries messages from the brain to the legs. The procedure will involve a large amount of rehab for Imogen. A time has not yet been set for next Tuesday's coffee morning. Keep up to date with Imogen's progress via the Help Imogen Walk Facebook site.
