THE sight of farm animals in fields from the roads of Monmouthshire is not an unusual sight.

The sight of farm animals ON the roads of Monmouthshire less so.

This rascal brought the busy A48 near Chepstow to a standstill as he nonchalantly took a stroll along a stretch near the Parkwall roundabout last week.

After taking in his new surroundings for a short while, the bull was ushered off the road onto the driveway of the St Pierre Hotel and Golf Club, allowing bemused motorists to go on their way.

Monmouth used to occasionally see animals on its streets in the days of its market beside Monnow Bridge.

One bullock escaped in the 1990s and ran headlong towards cars driving beside St Mary’s Church, before being ushered onto the grass in the churchyard.
