A BODY found in woodland area near Chepstow last week has been identified as a man who had been missing for months.

On Wednesday 21st February Gwent Police formally identified the man as 43-year-old Matthew Treggiden, who was last seen on the 4th December 2017.

His body was found on Wednesday 14th February in a woodland area close to Camp Road, Bulwark, Chepstow.

A Gwent Police spokesperson said: “Officers are not treating the death as suspicious at this time. His family are being supported by specialist officers.”

In a statement Mr Treggiden’s family paid tribute to him.

They said: “We would like to thank the police and everyone involved who helped Matthew and the person who found him.

“We would also like to thank all our friends who have offered their support over these difficult months. Matthew was a kind, gentle hearted person, adored by his family and will be deeply missed.’’
