AS part of Chepstow's celebration of the 40th anniversary of its twinning with Cormeilles, there are plans to put up a blue plaque.

The proposal is to place it on the Town Gate, facing Cormeilles Square, where there are already some other plaques attached to the wall.

Listed Building Consent will be needed before the plaque can be put up, but the Chepstow Cormeilles Twinning Association has support from Chepstow Town Council to request permission from the Listed Building Committee.

A second plaque will be given to the French town at the end of August this year, both of which will be made by mayor Ned Heywood MBE, who has offered to make them free of charge.
