If I understand the article in last week’s Beacon correctly, it looks as if Monmouthshire County Council will not now be charging Blue Badge holders to park in council car parks in future, as had been planned.

This is wonderful news for all those disabled drivers who would find it very difficult negotiating their way around car parks back and forth to ticket machines. Thank you, MCC.

Also, it is fantastic news to learn that Priory Street and Hereford Road will soon be resurfaced. The shock absorbers, bushes, bearings and exhaust pipe on my poor old car have suffered quite enough in the past few years, and so I am very grateful for these mercies. A reduction in the excessive number of speed bumps on Osbaston Road would be nice, but that is probably asking too much.
