HOGGIN’ the bridge returned for another year last Sunday (16th October).
Thousands of riders embarked on the river crossing, meeting at Severn View Services in Aust before ‘Hoggin’ the Severn Bridge, ending with a parade of bikes through the heart of Chepstow Racecourse.
The racecourse saw food, stalls and entertainment with music from Southern-style rock band Sons of Liberty.
Hoggin’ the Bridge fundraises for a range of charities including Meningitis Now, St David’s Hospice and St John’s Ambulance.
Although the final amount collected this year has not been released, it is thought to have surpassed Hoggin’ the Bridge 2015, which saw more than 2,000 bikers ‘hogging’ the bridge, raising £16,350.
The people of Chepstow and the surrounding area lined the route to watch the stream of riders go past.
Many riders made the trip into town, although this is the third year that the ride has officially ended at the racecourse.
On the day of the ride a petition to Monmouthshire County Council to bring the Hoggin’ the Bridge event back into Chepstow town centre was started.
The petition has already been signed by more than 650 supporters at the time of printing.
