Staff and customers at Chepstow Leisure Centre took part in a charity bike-ride and quiz in memory of a Chepstow rugby player last Friday (5th February).
Neil Allmark, who played as a blindside flanker at Chepstow Rugby Club for around 10 years, died on 9th January last year after suffering from a short illness. The 28-year-old, known as ‘Nellie,’ worked at the leisure centre as a duty officer.
More than 110 people took part in the fundraiser in support of British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) Wear It Beat It campaign. Generous people exercised their minds and their legs while wearing something red to show their support for the charity, raising a total of £792.48.
Organiser Katie Thompson said: “We had people on the bike cycling all day and we tracked them as they travelled across south Wales.
“We had loads of people donate money throughout the day and we would like to thank them for helping such a fantastic cause.
“The British Heart Foundation’s research is powered by the generosity of others and its work helps to make a big difference to millions of people living with heart and circulatory conditions.”
