THE musical talents of both Caldicot Primary School Children, and musicians from Caldicot School will come be coming together in an effort to raise money for Caldicot Foodbank.

The two schools will join together in a special concert to be held at 7pm on Wednesday 19th October, and in Grey Hill Hall at Caldicot School.

The performances at the concert will include those given by Caldicot School’s Orchestra, a combined schools choir, rock and pop bands and the Caldicot Foundation String Group.

The concert has been organised by Sara Humber, head of music and Caldicot School in association with the Caldicot Foodbank.

Caldicot Foodbank is part of Raven House Trust, a registered charity, and was set up by all the churches in and around Caldicot.

The foodbank was started three years ago in response to local community needs, and this past twelve months has helped feed over seven hundred and fifty adults, children and infants.

All those seeking help obtain and present a food voucher from whichever agency is dealing with their difficulty: this includes the Probation Service, Job Centre Plus and Housing Associations

Caldicot School’s head of music, Sara Humber expressed how delighted she was for the young people to be given the opportunity of a concert at this time of year.

She said: “It’s also good for the children to be supporting such a worthy cause”

The timing of the concert couldn’t be better according to Alan Parker, one of the executive members of Caldicot’s Foodbank.

He said: “At this time of year we’re starting to encourage donations of Christmas items such as tins of turkey meat, Christmas cake and Christmas Chocolate selection boxes.

“Christmas can be a particularly difficult time of year for those families facing indebtedness, homelessness, unemployment, ill-health and a range of other problem areas and we do our best to ensure the children are not forgotten.

“We’re so grateful to Ms Humber and the schools for their support at this time.”

Tickets are £2.00 an adult, £1.00 concessions (senior citizens, children and disabled persons).

These may be obtained in advance from the main reception desk at Caldicot School, or on the night.

Refreshments will be served during the 20 minute interval, and a raffle held in aid of the Caldicot Foodbank.

There will also be a bucket collection.

The concert is expected to finish around 9pm.
