The annual Art in Penallt exhibition moved to a new home this year, and around 1,000 visitors enjoyed the ninth eclectic three day space at Kate Humble’s Nature Farm in Penallt.

As in previous years, the Haberdashers Monmouth Schools and the Monmouth Comprehensive School contributed their own exhibition with some outstanding talent revealed. In the specially laid out sculpture garden outside the long barn, Steel Sculptor, Simon Probyn and others contributed imaginative pieces while the co-operative ’Made in Monmouthshire’ Art group brought new talent to the event as well as very interesting new material. Stevie Coutts, Chair of Art in Penallt, who organise the event thanked Kate Humble and her team for their support as well as the many local volunteers and artisans who helped put the show together.  Stevie also thanked patrons, Walter Keeler and Richard Wills. "As in previous years, the exhibition makes a modest profit from sales of artworks. While we retain sufficient funds to mount next year’s programme, any surplus is divided between local charities. This year the selected charities are ’Young Minds, ’Babington Meadow’ (Penallt) and The ’Penallt Village charity’," she said.Artist Richard Wills is seen here left with up-coming artist Victoria Baker who has just finished her A-levels at Monouth School for Girls. She is going to study art at Oxford Brookes university and enjoys painting people in oils and likes the work of Jean-Michel Basquiat.
