MAGOR Brewery celebrated its 20 billionth pint and 35th anniversary on Friday (26th September). Opened in 1979, Magor is AB InBev's largest brewery in the UK and makes some of the world's most popular beers including Budweiser and Stella Artois. It produces kegs, cans and bottles across six packaging lines and brews approximately 792 million pints of beer per year. AB InBev employs around 400 people at the brewery which also indirectly supports approximately 8,400 jobs. Since the brewery's first pint of beer was poured, over 20 billion pints have been brewed at Magor. To mark the occasion, Union Representative David Ball, who has worked at the brewery for over 30 years, unveiled a commemorative plaque. Newport East MP Jessica Morden also visited the brewery to mark its brewing milestone. David Ball, Union Representative, said: "I have only worked here a short 31 years, but that speaks volumes to me on what a great place it is to work. I only hope I'm lucky enough to be able to see out my retirement here". Local MP Jessica Morden said: "I am delighted to celebrate with AB InBev's Magor brewery team as it marks its 35th anniversary. The Magor Brewery is one of the biggest employers in our area, and it is fantastic to see its consistent commitment to the local community. We look forward to continuing our partnership over the next 35 years." Tony Monteiro, Brewery Manager at AB InBev UK's Magor Brewery, said: "AB InBev UK has an important role to play in the local area and our Magor Brewery is proud to be a contributing member of the community. We are looking forward with excitement to what the next 35 years will bring."
