Re-released to coincide with the major Cézanne exhibition showing at Tate Modern, Cézanne: Portraits of a Life, one of the most successful ever Exhibition on Screen films is showing at the Drill Hall Chepstow on Thursday December 8 at 7.30pm.
It takes the audience on a journey to the places Paul Cézanne lived and worked and sheds light on an artist who is perhaps one of the least known and yet most important of all the Impressionists.
Narrated by the multi-award winning actor Brian Cox, the film uses correspondence from the artist himself, as well as interviews with art experts and curators from museums and galleries around the world.
In Cézanne’s portraits you meet the individuals who populated his life. In addition to the artist himself for with them are more than three dozen self-portraits which is an uncommonly large number for any artist. As this film shows, Cézanne really did leave behind a life story in paint.
Exhibition on Screen films are brought to the Drill Hall by, and in support of, MonLife Heritage Museums
Tickets £10 can be booked online at www.drillhallchepstow.co.uk, and are also available at the door on the night.
