A Chepstow woman has appeared in court charged with making threats to kill and common assault.

Elinor Crawford of Buttington Road, Sedbury was arrested after a 999 emergency call was made at about 2.55pm on 1st September.

She was taken into police custody and later charged.

After an appearance at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on 3rd September, 22-year-old Crawford will now appear at Gloucester Crown Court on 1st October for a preliminary hearing.

Police officers who attended the Sedbury disturbance from across the border in Gwent have received praise from a local senior officer.

A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: “Constables Screen and Williams attended the incident after a 999 emergency call was received by Gwent Police.

“The two officers, who were in Chepstow when the call came in, attended as a woman was being threatened with a knife.”

Local Policing Superintendent Glyn Fernquest said: “It made sense that even though the call was meant for Gloucestershire Police, that our officers took the initiative and attended.

“These officers possibly prevented a situation becoming worse.

“Officers come to work to protect and reassure regardless of the lines on a map”.
