A 30-year-old Hereford man has been banned from driving for two years after pleading guilty to driving at 146mph on the A449.

Garron Duane Groves was caught by a Gwent Police ‘Go Safe’ camera on the A449 near Junction 24 of the M4 (Coldra) travelling in his Audi at the speed of 146mph.

He appeared at Newport Magistrates Court on Monday 18th April having pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.

He was sentenced to prison for 12 weeks suspended for two years along with 100 hours of unpaid work, and was also banned from driving for two years.

Inspector Lee Ford from Gwent Police said: “This is a clear example of dangerous driving that leads to death and serious injury on our roads. This particular offender showed no regard to his own or any other road user’s safety. Go Safe enforcement officers deploy to approved areas to reduce speed to save lives.”
