A MAN who ‘brutally’ murdered his 78-year-old stepmother has had his sentence reduced.

Timothy Jackson of Mount Street, Sheffield was sentenced to life imprisonment in March after stabbing Usk poet Anne Jackson multiple times at her home last November.

Judge Neil Bidder QC when sentencing Jackson in Cardiff Crown Court earlier this year, called the murder “particularly brutal”.

However, the Court of Appeal in London yesterday (13th October) ruled that his 19-year minimum sentence should be reduced to 16 years and eight months.

Mrs Jackson wrote under the pseudonym of Anne Cluysenaar and had her poems published in many anthologies.
