A POLICE car was hit on Monday (28th December) by two men wearing balaclavas on the Old Dixton Road, Monmouth.

The crash took place at approximately 11.15pm when the police car was hit by a John Deere flatbed vehicle.

The driver and the passenger of this vehicle, who were both wearing balaclavas, then ran off, one in the direction of Monmouth Comprehensive School, the other towards Wyesham.

Both police officers were uninjured.

A number of agricultural items were found in the vehicle. Officers suspect that both the vehicle and the items inside had been stolen from a nearby farm.
