A Justgiving crowdfunding page has been started to support a popular window cleaner who is currently under sedation in hospital.

Philip ’Paj’ Jones collapsed at the wheel of his Peugeot Expert at the bottom of the Mayhill when driving back from a funeral in the Forest of Dean on Friday October 22.An off-duty fireman from Monmouth was first on the scene and organised some men to get the driver out of the car. Then once he was placed on the ground, the fireman started CPR. Then a member of Monmouth Schools Sports Club arrived with a defibrillator and took over administering CPR whilst the fireman used the defibrillator. They continued until two more off-duty firemen from Cardiff, one a former paramedic, arrived on the scene and helped out until a fire appliance from the Monmouth station, scrambled at 2.46pm, arrived on the scene. An air ambulance from South Wales crew arrived at 3pm. Following critical care treatment for nearly an hour from their on-board consultant and critical care practitioner, Philip was airlifted to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, leaving the scene at 4.15pm and arriving at the hospital at 4:32pm. Gwent Police said : "We received a report of a single-vehicle collision in Wyesham Road, Monmouth, on 22 October shortly after 2.30pm.’’The driver, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment. He remains in hospital in a critical condition.’’Paj is well-known not only as a self-employed window cleaner but as founder member of a team of paranormal investigators. He has been researching the paranormal for some 25 years. He is a member of ASSAP, the Association for the Scientific Study of Anomalous Phenomena and has carried out media work for the BBC Radio 4, Sky and USA Cable network stations, for programs with an interest in the paranormal. He stepped back in May of this year after 28 years, explaining his personal reasons for taking a break from paranormal investigations on social media."So heartbreakingly, I have decided to step away from the paranormal after some 28 years of being part of some of the most fantastic investigations, and meeting some amazing people whom I have built a bond with that no matter what, it will never be broken" he posted. Among some of the places he has conducted his investigations are Room 4 at The Punch House and the Griffin where he said "it had a life changing effect on me".He has also raised money for charitable events, organising the Chase Vaughan Charity Paranormal investigation of the Shire Hall in aid of the Big Wish For Chase Appeal for her SDR Operation and in Oct 2019 he was out hiking 10 miles over the Brecon Beacons for a Children in Need Ramble where his video appeared on Countryfile: "Here I am" he said "with my friends, on top of a mountain, doing a 10 mile walk, with a dodgy ticker" having been diagnosed several years previously with moderately-severe heart failure but determined to fight it.The Justgiving page aims to raise £3,500 to help Phil with his recovery and has so far raised 88 per cent of the target. If you want to donate, go to Justgiving.com and search for ’Paj’ or ’Sharon Thomas’ who started the crowdfunding.
