A 20-year-old man is in a critical condition after a collision on the M48 yesterday evening.

At approximately 23:15pm on Wednesday 11th May 2016 a road traffic collision occurred on the M48 Westbound near to Rogiet involving a pedestrian and a black Ford Focus.

The pedestrian, a 20 year old male from the local area sustained serious injuries and is currently in a critical condition at the Royal Gwent Hospital.

The westbound carriageway of the M48 was closed for approximately five hours whilst officers conducted their scene investigations.

No arrests have been made, but officers are appealing for members of the public who may have been in the area at the time to come forward and call Gwent Police on 101 quoting log number 551 of 11/5/16.
