A CHEPSTOW man is set to walk the 178-mile Offa’s Dyke Path for the Alzheimer’s Society

Paul Hallifax, aged 66, aims to raise more than £1,000 by walking the Offa’s Dyke path over a 12-day period in mid-September, starting in Prestatyn and ‘walking home’ to Chepstow.

Paul said: “I have decided to undertake this challenge for the Alzheimer’s Society because, having now retired, I thought it was the perfect time to try to do something worthwhile for a worthy charity whilst I am still able!

“Having seen the distress caused by dementia first hand, I have decided to support a charity that is focused on providing essential support and trying to alleviate some of the suffering by all those it impacts.

“As I live just half a mile from the end of the Offa’s Dyke path, this inspired me to decide on this challenge – I will be literally ‘walking home’.

“It’s great to think that I will be raising funds to help support people living with dementia now and to fund research to one day find a cure for dementia.”

Alzheimer’s Society events coordinator William Bauckham said: “It’s wonderful that Paul is giving his time to support Alzheimer’s Society. Until the day we find a cure, we will be here for anyone affected by dementia, wherever they are, whatever they’re going through. We need more people like Paul to join us now and unite against dementia.”
