POLICE are on the look out for a white transit van with orange sign writing on the sides after an elderly woman in Caldicot was scammed out of £2000.

The woman was approached at her home on Tuesday, 11th July by a man offering to do a large amount of gardening.

The man, described as 30 to 50 years old with a slim build, fair hair and local accent, asked for payment in cash.

After the money was willingly handed over he only completed an hour of work before leaving.

A Gwent Police spokesperson said: “No receipt/invoice or contract was given and no details of him were taken by the elderly female.

“Any sightings of vehicle or anyone approached by this male please contact 101 and quote GWP-20170711-0261.”
