Monmouth teachers hit target

By Monmouthshire Beacon/Chepstow Beacon in Charity

STAFF at a Monmouth school hit their £2k charity target on Sunday (April 23rd) in memory of a colleague.

Helen Mason, a Foundation Phase teacher at Overmonnow School died at the age of 49 after being diagnosed with cancer.

It touched the hearts of all those who remembered her in the community and prompted the staff at the school to raise money for cancer research in a way she would have thoroughly approved.

The staff challenged themselves to a 5k inflatable run at Chepstow racecourse and have surpassed their £2k goal, raising £2,386 for Cancer Research UK, with donations ranging from £10 to over £100.

Supporting them on the day was Helen’s husband Andy and her sister Pat who joined the team at the end and raised a glass in Helen’s memory.

Donations are still being accepted at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ HelenMasonRun
